IAWA teamed up with Hill Dickinson in London for another successful regional reception. Held at the Hill Dickinson London HQ on September 20th, IAWA was joined by Natalie Reynolds of advantageSpring for an inspirational master-class on negotiation. While some of us may be quite confident in our negotiation abilities, Natalie explored how unconscious negative assumptions regarding women’s ability to negotiate persist and therefore can sabotage outcomes. On September 14, IAWA members and friends gathered in Toulouse for an IAWA Connect at the Airbus BizLab. IAWA President Lisa Piccione and Airbus Chief of Staff Jane Basson spoke to the group about IAWA and advancing women in aviation and aerospace. Divya Kamania is our most recent scholarship recipient from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. We interviewed Divya about her experience as an IAWA scholarship recipient and the impact it has had on her life. Divya’s story is not only inspiring but it demonstrates IAWA’s aim to motivate women to reach their goals, get inspired and lead.
GEWN in partnership with IAWA hosted a moderated discussion consisting of 4 key panel members and in depth participation from the Audience. The focus of the discussion was how do we develop careers and connections for women in Aviation, a traditionally male dominated industry.

It is generally considered that the aviation is an industry for men and the number of women pilots around the word is an evidence. Just to consider a fact: just the 6% of the total of licenses of pilots in the general aviation of the United States of America have been issued to women. Over 30 IAWA members and friends attended the Santiago Connect held on June 20th at the offices of Carey y Cia. The breakfast Connect featured remarks by David Dueñas, Head of the Chile Legal Department of Civil Aviation, about Liberalization of the Civil Aviation Industry in Chile. In addition to the support of Carey y Cia, individuals from LATAM Airlines, Jetsmart, Sky Airlines, and Air Canada assisted with planning the event.
On June 21, 2017, over 60 IAWA members and friends gathered for a reception at the Paris Air Show. IAWA thanks Airbus for again hosting an IAWA reception at Le Bourget. Special thanks to IAWA Board member Katherine Bennett, Jennifer Ouarrag and everyone at Airbus for their work to make the 2017 reception a huge success. Airbus is a long-time supporter of IAWA and a partner in IAWAs mission to advance women in aviation and aerospace.
