IAWA Singapore Forum Recap

On February 19th, IAWA hosted its first Asia Forum on the backdrop of the largest Asia Airshow in the lovely city of Singapore with the theme "Aviation & Aerospace Industry at the Crossroads of Innovation, Growth and Global Turbulences: The Asian Perspective".  We were delighted to welcome more than 80 participants and panelists from all areas of the industry.  From the three panels we discussed the State of the Industry, the technology trends and key challenges for the sustainability goals, the scale up of SAF and finally the talent pipelines and staff shortages, limiting growth and innovation speed if not managed rightly.

As a special honor, we welcomed keynote speaker, Ms Li San Poh, Senior Vice President of Changi Airport Group, who shared her views on the challenges of aviation from the Singapore perspective, her own amazing career path and her call for action to include more female in career pipelines in aviation and aerospace as we need all talents in our industry.

In the panel on the state of the industry we discussed the impacts of the global turbulences and the impacts and challenges on the supply chain, covering from the civil sector to the defense sector and the specifics of air navigation services challenges, impacting all the growth rate of air traffic in the region. The production & supply chain issues to scale up Sustainable Aviation Fuel were addressed by the experts within the second panel. Reflecting the call for action from the keynote, the third panel discussed the leaky pipeline for females in aviation, the impacts of the covid-pandemic on staffing and women leaving the sector and the value of STEM capabilities for countries and companies.
